Simply put Third Party insurance protects you from the costs of damage your car causes to someone else’s car or property up to a maximum of MZN 5 000 000.
Third Party Fire & Theft insurance also includes cover for fire, theft, and damage caused as a result of attempted theft.
Comprehensive is just that! It covers your car against damage caused by a number of insured events, such as theft, accidental damage and natural events (flood, earthquake, fire & storm) as well as providing 3rd party insurance.
Third party motor insurance is mandatory for all vehicles in circulation in Mozambique. It is mandated in the Mozambique Road Act.
Mozambique does not have a Road Accident fund as is found in South Africa and other territories. The Mozambique Authorities need to be assured that all foreign registered vehicles entering Mozambique are covered for any liability incurred through the use of these vehicles on their roads and that there is a valid Mozambique insurance policy that covers these costs. It is mandated in the Mozambique Road Act.

In the event of your car being involved in an accident and driven by your friend or acquaintance, you will be covered provided they are in possession of a valid driver’s license and provided all the terms and conditions of your car insurance are met.
Comprehensive motor insurance does not extend to mechanical breakdown of the car, cover is purely against damage caused by accident, theft or attempted theft, or any of the other perils stated in your insurance terms and conditions.
Check the added value benefits that your insurer is offering. Many insurers have vehicle recovery partnerships in place, providing their policyholders with free vehicle recovery in certain areas, and possibly nationwide.
In order for you to have a valid claim, the person driving the vehicle must have a valid driver’s license, this could also include a valid learner’s license but a claim will only be paid if the person is accompanied by someone with a valid driver’s license.
The certificate is valid 30 days from date of inception as noted on the certificate of insurance. Unless otherwise stated in respect of any one occurrence, Liability shall not exceed the limit of R1000,000.00 (one million SA Rand).
If you’re travelling in a group and you wish to pay for your travelling companions insurance, or you are towing a trailer for which you would like to include cover, just select the “Multiple vehicle” option on the Home Page, and you can add up to ten vehicles for a quotation, and on purchase you will be able to download separate individual insurance certificates for each vehicle or trailer.
Renewing your motor insurance with Askari is quick and easy. Simply log-in to your account on the home page of the Askari website, select the vehicle which cover you want to renew, and follow the easy process. Once you have completed the renewal and payment process, you will be provided with confirmation by both e-mail and sms. You will also be provided with a new policy number, and a new set of policy documentation reflecting the cover and period of cover you have selected for the new policy.
You can only cancel your policy provided you do so prior to the commencement date of cover. Once the policy has commenced and cover has started, unfortunately the policy cannot be cancelled. If a policy is cancelled prior to commencement and the payment has been processed, a refund of the premium paid will be processed.
